How photo package weight estimates work
Oshippy uses item photos and package presets to suggest weight for USPS and UPS labels. We are honest about the limits — your phone cannot weigh a box — and you stay in control before checkout.
Honest estimates, not magic
What the photo is for
A clear photo helps identify the item category and suggest a reasonable weight with your package preset. It is not a digital scale.
You confirm before you pay
Every estimate is editable. If something looks light or heavy, change it — accuracy protects you from later carrier fees.
When to weigh manually
Unusual, dense, or heavy packages may need a real scale. Oshippy will ask when it is unsure.

What the estimate uses (and what it does not)
The photo plus your package preset (poly mailer, small box, etc.) helps Oshippy suggest a starting weight for common categories — apparel, small accessories, books, and similar items. It does not measure mass from pixels, read a scale, or guarantee carrier-billed weight.
Dimensions come from the preset you choose or values you enter — not from computer vision measuring the box. If the estimate looks wrong, edit it before you pay. That one step prevents most carrier adjustment surprises.
